Not Dead Yet

Long overdue post… just want everyone to know that I’ve been working closely with two beta testers that have been using the CMS successfully in production environments.

By focusing on a small number of beta testers, I’ve been able to squash a few remaining bugs, and see where some problems were preventing folks from successfully installing my software.

One new development is some code I whipped up to switch templates based on the category. It defaults to the main template if no category template is found. Not Earth shattering, but useful and needed.

Just out of curiousity, but with systems like Expanse (http://expansecms.com), Subdreamer (http://subdreamer.com) and others, why not just one of those?

  2. jackborn says:

    Hey John,
I’m aware of both of these systems, but they don’t meet my needs. Believe me, I have need or desire to reinvent the wheel.

But if they work for you, fantastic.

I think my earlier posts really answer the specifics of “why not X” better than I could in a comment. If you haven’t already, check out my earlier posts and you’ll see why I began this project a while back.

So if u don’t need more beta testers when are we gonna test cmslaunch?
i hope it’s gonna release earlier than mooflex :)

  4. jackborn says:

    Zee,
I don’t need any beta testers at this very moment.

I’m focusing on two clients, testing and tweaking things to the best of my ability. Things are going very well.

But one of the things I noticed during the first wide-open test was that it was very difficult to respond to a bug when it was reporting by several people at once. So… I thought I’d keep this phase of development very focused.

No, I don’t think this is going to take much longer.

I’m looking forward to it jack.
More power to your elbow ;)

    Greetings,

After reading throught areas of your site, I’ve become even more interested in your CMS. Please feel free to point me in the direction of your download page, when you release it :-) I’d love to try it out.

Regarding expansecms, I had a look at their homepage, and it is horribly mangled (text on text) when viewed without javascript enabled. I understand requiring javascript for web “applications”, but a page shouldn’t break so horribly. I accept that a site might lose functionality without js, but to be illegible or unnavigable is just wrong.

Please don’t make that mistake with your CMS.

  8. Juan Ziegler says:

I don’t see what you’re talking about Rick, but perhaps they fixed the problem?

  9. Ben says:

Any word on when your CMS is set to be released?

Hi, just wondering if you’re any closer? I’m looking for a new system that I can use for some of our clients, as I’m really burned out on the current WYSIWYG editing boxes that make everything so much harder … Hope your beta tests are going well!

  12. John Snook says:

Could you hurry it up please? :)

I’ve been eager to start using this for a year now!!

Will you be accepting any testers soon? We could definately try it on our intranet.

Keep up the good work, mate.

  13. Guillermo Ormskerk says:

    So, when exactly?:)

  14. Rob Morgan says:

I’m sure it’s going to be ace, anything this long in the making must be good… can’t wait! (but have too) :(

  15. chris says:

I’m guessing this CMS bit the dust.

  16. jackborn says:

    No… it didn’t.

    It’s just way way overdue.

    Best regards,

It seems like it died after all =/

  19. jackborn says:

No… I’ll be posting a new video soon.

  20. mnew says:

Is it worth hanging on for this? The video looks good and is tempting. But I have a client who wants a CMS with us and has money! :)

Any chance of seeing some beta code?

  21. jackborn says:

I just sent you an email
